English TBR Reviews
The burning girls by C.J. Tudor
The burning girls by C.J. Tudor is initially labeled as a horror book but I have to say that I don’t really agree with it. It’s a medium paced thriller but it will keep your interest from the first page to the last. The fact that it has a church / beliefs setting makes it all the more captivating.

Dear Child by Romy Hausmann
This is a psychological thriller on a whole new level. A young woman has been abducted and has been living in captivity with a man calling himself her husband. Living in a cabin in the woods they start a family because that’s what he wants. 14 years after the abduction Lena has been found, but is it the real Lena to begin with?
The other Mrs. by Mary Kubica
After Sadie and her family move house to watch over their niece Imogen a woman in the same street has been murdered. The police are trying to figure out what’s happened as does Sadie because the rumor-mill has suggested that Will and the woman were seeing each other. Trying to unearth what’s happened Sadie comes to the conclusion that the murderer lives under her roof. Is it her son Otto? Who had an incident at his previous school with a knife or maybe Imogen? That girl has been so angry with everyone. She can’t imagine her husband Will doing it… When everything unravels, she can’t believe it. She just can’t.

Hush Hush by James Patterson
It’s the last one already. I could’ve read more about Harriet’s adventures if there would be any. It’s is open ended so; we might be in for a treat someday. Also, a good writing idea would be a standalone about / with Tox. His character is so criminal to be a detective but he is very good at his job. In the beginning of this book Harriet is in jail, pending her trail. Reading about what happened in prison, my god… but knowing it happens in real live as well.
Liar Liar by James Patterson
Harriet Blue has gone rogue after learning of her brother’s murder while he was incarcerated and the man that framed Sam for his deeds? Still on the run and still killing innocent people. Harriet is on a mission of finding him, Regan Banks, and kill him for all the wrong he’s done. Not just revenge but also justice for every single family member he has left behind by killing the innocent. This story was so heart wrenching, fast paced and chilling. I could not put it down.

Fifty Fifty by James Patterson
After reading the first book in this series I knew I had to buy the other books as well. Harriet Blue is a cop with a violent streak but very good at her job. But that violent streak does get her in trouble from time to time. Her brother is on trail for multiple murders and whilst Harriet wants to find out who framed Sam, she gets sent away to the desert to solve a case. Her partner and an old friend team up to look into the framing of Sam, what will they find?
The lost apothecary by Sarah Penner
The lost apothecary; is it worth the read? YES. This really is a genre I wouldn’t normally pick but the story was consistent but maybe a bit slow. It has two storylines; one that plays out in the late 1700’s and one in the present. The apothecary was in use in the late 1700’s not only for woman’s maladies but also to buy poison, discretely. The business came crumbling down when Nella had one wrong client. In the present day world, Caroline is dead set on finding this apothecary and what happened.

Quicksilver by Callie Hart
Folklore, that’s what I’ve been thought to believe about Fae. But when they turned out to be real, that magic was real and there are whole realms and other monsters..
Watch Me by Tahereh Mafi
We follow Rosa, condemned to do the reestablishments dirty work because of her dad’s treason and her mother suicide. Living in the Ark, a luxurious place although a small group of people are living in small shed like houses. We also follow James, a boy with a rebel streak from the new republic wanting to infiltrate the ark.

The Tenant by Freida McFadden
Blake is a very successful man; until he isn’t. When he gets fired from his job, he and his girlfriend can’t afford the mortgage any longer; So, they have to find a tenant to make ends meet. When they finally find someone that seems to fit in, strange things keep happening and Blake gets more and more agitated. The latest Freida books haven’t been giving me that same wow factor as the housemaid did, and that’s a shame.

Such Quiet Girls – Noelle W Ihli
I am pleasantly surprised by this book, which was inspired by actual events which made the story that much more eerie. A school bus filled with kids that are underway to after school care is taken in broad daylight.
The house of my mother – Shari Franke
8 passengers, I guess the whole world knows the name of this channel by now. This story is just heartbreaking and for the ones interested in knowing what happened behind those closed doors, it’s definitely worth the read.
