ARC Reviews
Most of the books I get to ARC read are from Netgalley, some I get from Authors that have seen my reviews and wonder if I would like to read and review their book to. Netgalley has a very wide array of books, almost every genre is available. When you see something, you would really love to read and review you put in a request. If the publisher or author think you’re good enough, they will accept your request and get started. Netgalley really is all digital which I don’t mind but I would go absolutely nuts if I get to ARC read physical copies to.

ARC Review
Their deadly truth – Carla Kovach
Never in a million years did Tina think that when renting out her driveway, did she ever have to deal with a dead body in the boot of a car in the space she has rented out. And with that body being found, a new case has been opened. Not long after DCI Briggs has been taken off the case and Gina and the team are being kept in the dark. Is he a suspect in this case or is he to be a victim? After a second body is found the only thing tying both together was a blue teddy-bear left at both scenes.
What we did to survive – Megan Lally
What should have been the perfect last day of their vacation turns out to be one horrific day. Emmy met Ben on the fourth day of their vacation and all was going well until he showed his true colors on that last day. With multiple storms incoming Ben persuades everyone to go out sailing anyway. Little did Emmy know that not all that stepped on the boat would come of it alive again.
The next lie – Camden Baird
With her neighbor being murdered and her husband seemingly on the run, Sadie tries to keep things together. There are a lot of POVs in this book and almost all of them have a motive as to have wanted Cass Thomas dead, with one of them one the run and one of them that is supposedly dead for a very long time, the police have a hard time trying to pin this down on one person. Throughout this book you’ll be wondering and the end when the truth is uncovered, it’s kind of sad.
Kingdom of Today – Gena Showalter
With this being the prequal of ‘Kingdom of Tomorrow’ I was anticipating getting to read this one and it really did not disappoint. This book is filled with willpower, betrayal and beliefs. With King Tagin murdered a new King has to be selected, so all heirs will be hosted at the emperors’ house, the emperor being Cyrus’ grandfather. With them an Elite group of Lady and Lords in training are chosen to attend as well. There are a lot, REALLY A LOT of things happening in this book and I absolutely cannot wait to read the next one.
Kingdom of Tomorrow – Gena Showalter
Arden, a girl known as panic girl because she fears everything has the most important appointment of a lifetime. Will she get accepted to the training program she so desperately wanted to attend? Answer: No, because a debt built by her mother due to having the madness, she has no choice but to attend Bala Royal Academy where she’ll be trained to be a lady; a fearless warrior that will fight the people overcome with madness, feeders and glowers and other Soal believers. Fearful meets fearless, will she succeed?
Gone in the night – Helen Phifer
It was a fast paced read, loved the banter and the work ethic. Loved that Amy had her baby.
Loved every minute of it. This book starts with Morgan and Ben coming back from holiday to meeting Amy’s replacement since Amy’s going on maternity leave. A new case drops and they seem to be having a really hard time piecing things together, Mark has been in the field more but in my humble opinion his detective skills are lacking.
The trophy wife – Minka Kent
With this being a re-release of “The trophy wife” but this time the pseudonym is gone, goodbye Sunday and hello Minka. I have to say that this book had me going in circles. In this story there are to POVs to follow, one is Cate Cabot’s and the other is Odessa DuVernay. Cate works in a high-end boutique shop and Odessa happens to wander in some day and a friendship blooms, but it’s a rather weird friendship and Sean (Cate’s boyfriend) doesn’t trust it one bit and he might be on to something not trusting Odessa.
The King’s Card – Erin Archer
Being exiled for helping your people, it’s ridiculous but sadly it’s Mira’s truth. Exiled from her home, but truthfully? Mira is relieved, finally that mask she has to wear can come off. Thankfully Bael has been waiting and takes her back to his home, the castle of Brevalin. She always thought Brevalin was the only kingdom living in peace; a quiet kingdom without any threats… She couldn’t be farther from the truth.
My Husband’s Wife – Carla Kovach
This book is a brilliant stand-alone psychological thriller by one of my go-to authors Carla Kovach. Eva has lost her husband Hugo five years ago due to suicide, leaving her and her 5-year-old son Caiden. Never did she imagine that 5 years later she’ll be moving into a new home in a new town with a new husband. All seems to go well, until she spots a man that looks exactly like her late husband. Because Eva has a mental health history, no one seems to believe her; Which is why Eva will investigate this on her own.
The Witching Hour – Deborah Carr
The fact that this book has a witchy vibe is enough to pick this book up, right? It’s labeled as a General Fiction / Romance novel but I think Historical Fiction could be a good one to. Since this book has an overlapping dual timeline due to time travel. Briar lives in the year 1964 but has been sent back without knowing how to the year 1643 where witches are being hunted and hanged.
Such a bad influence – Grace Demyan
With this being a debut novel, I was pleasantly surprised at how good of a read this was. I’m always open to try new things and General woman’s fiction not being my first pick; this one proved I also kind of like this genre or it’s just the way Grace put this story together. I’ve read it on two sittings, only because I started it late last night. My honest opinion; Loved it, when you like cozy reads you should definitely give it a try.
The Graveyard Girls – Rita Herron
When skeletal remains are found in a little town not far from where Ellie works, her boss wants her there to lend a hand knowing they have their own sheriff but they don’t have the man-power to conduct the investigation needed. Ellie takes Cord with her to Brambletown since it’s a rural area and Cord is one of the best grid searchers. It gets clear that they are on the lookout for a serial killer.
Her last move – John Marrs
My second John Marrs book and what a story this has been. It definitely is a 5-star read and I’ll tell you why; I love it when a crime book has been written where we get the point of view from a police officer but also a point of view from the killer. It brings thrilling to a whole other level and you keep wondering who it is and why he’s doing what he’s doing. You can read a detailed review on my website.
What the nanny said – Lara Finch
This story is one with a dual timeline; part of the story plays out in the year 1999 and one in the present. In the 1999 timeline we follow a family and the events leading up to a murder and disappearance. The police interview was something else… The present timeline is about Evie finding out what happened, if the live she lived with what she thought was her mom was real or all a lie.
Richard Armitage – The Cut
A death within a group of ‘friends’, but every single one of them could have done it. Someone has been arrested and incarcerated for a long time. When he’s set to be released many years later; A film maker and an eye witness set up the making of a docu film to trap the one that really did it; to punish him for what he did.
My Ex-Husband’s Ex Husband – Rachel Cohn and Melissa de la Cruz
A friendship goes sour when both Audrey and Ian fall in love with the same guy; Beau. Audrey gets pregnant which makes Beau choose her. With Ian still in the picture as a BF. Once Audrey gets a divorce, that’s when Ian and Beau go exclusive and Audrey shuts him out. Until years later, when Izzy (her youngest daughter) is about to get married and Beau is AWOL.
