There is going to be a new Re-release of ‘Brain Damage’ by Freida McFadden; This version will be released on the 25th of August.
I don’t know if there is a difference with the original release of this book or if it’s just the cover that has had a freshen up because I haven’t read the OG one.

Doctor Charlotte McKenna, dermatologist at a clinic in New York. Already in her mid-thirties and still single and no children although her mother keeps trying to set her up with someone, Charlotte loves solitude a little too much. Having a very nice apartment with a nice view and a black cat called Kitty. Work has been everything although sometimes she gets very weird patients. A man with a fungal infection in the groin area isn’t exactly something a dermatologist has to see, a GP would’ve been able to prescribe what is needed, but here he is; Mr. Stanley Leroy, a man that’s a tad overweight and doesn’t have the best hygiene. The cure is simple; lose some weight, keep the groin area clean and use the ointment prescribed.
Never dating a patient, that is one rule Charlotte never breaks but when Clark Douglas comes in for a consult, she’s instantly smitten. This guy is beautiful and he knows it! After the consult is over, he asks her out on a date but with the rule in place she can’t even though she secretly wants to. When they agree on maybe after three months? – Charlotte has forgotten about Clark just a little bit, running in the park and suddenly, there he is? Three months have come and gone, so… Charlotte is holding back but Clark persuades her rather quick.
Kind of like a whirlwind romance, Charlotte and Clark are married within a year and only after they are married does Charlotte see Clark’s true colors. Telling Charlotte, he quit his job on their honeymoon and will be staying an extra week when she returns home after two weeks. Then one evening she finds out from some ex-colleague of Clark’s that he has been let go about a year ago. Clark is full of lies; she even found out he has been cheating on her! But then, on a rainy evening when Charlotte opens her apartment door and goes in; something terrible happens. She gets shot, in the head!
Rehabilitation is a b*tch; it’s a very slow process where for the first for weeks Charlotte seems to be locked in, isn’t able to speak or stay awake for long periods of time but over months and a whole lot of therapy does she finally speak. First it sounds very slurred, but with speech therapy it keeps getting better. She gets function back on her right side but her left side seems nonexistent to her. She can’t see anything on her left side, can’t move anything either. Over the months she’s staying in rehab her husband doesn’t show his face once but she does make new friends with people in her rehabilitation group, Like Jamie; a cute guy.
Nightmares about her shooting keep coming back, she knows it’s a man who did the shooting and he told her she deserved it? But she can’t get the picture complete and the police are none the wiser; they eventually have someone in custody but in the end – when the picture is finally clearing will it leave you startled!
I’m giving this book a ⭐⭐⭐⭐ star rating, really liked it and like Charlotte’s humor.
