This ARC read I was very excited for because I have been part of this authors ARC team since her debut novel, which is the first book in this series was made. I’m talking about Erin Archer and she is a great author who came up with a very good book series and had fairytale elements imbedded in every single one of them.

The first book is inspired by sleeping beauty (the internet says, but I had some snow-white vibes) and is called The Queen’s Card, the second book is inspired by beauty and the beast and is called The King’s Card and this last book in the series is called The Keeper’s Card also sleeping beauty inspired. This series is called The Fairytale Tarot trilogy and is worth your time, it’s a classic romantasy where smut isn’t found so, teenagers can read these books to.

As this being the seclusion, I have to honestly say that I’m missing some things like I expected the ‘end game’ to be more of a fight, more warmongering (is that a correct word?) What happened to King Lewis, did he just stop existing once he was freed? And actual closure; like with Dane, he’s been cursed into becoming this statue but I would have loved to read what happened when the curses lifted, when the curse of the king of Brevalin lifted, if he remembered anything from when he was forcefully being a wolve if the statues in the castle garden in Azrea were actual people. It all kind of happened in the last 15% of the book and I was kind of hoping for more, it being spread out to the last 50% of the book with more anticipation, building of anxiety at who is going to win and how Mira eventually came to the conclusion she came to without the proper research.

Let’s start with this book;

At the end of book two Mira and Bael came to the understanding that if they wanted the last Arcana card to be handed over by none other than Ambrose, Mira needed to play on his heartstrings and the fact that he had a crush on her and would always protect her. That’s why she sent Ambrose a letter telling him how wrong she was for choosing Bael and that Elyse is gone and she didn’t feel save. Ambrose picked her up in the last book, that’s where this book begins. In the air with Mira being held by Ambrose and her panicking because she utterly hates flying.

Mira has to come clean to Ambrose but it has been done for her when an old guard named Heath shows up and asks her if she already has the card and that Bael wrote her a letter. She explains why she did what she did and that the last arcana card is his, or should be but Ambrose doesn’t know about the card or where it should be. Mira has the moon card and the book on tarot cards from Ari but once she wants to do some research in her room and King Lewis visited her within the mirror; telling her that every time she suppresses her magic, she’ll just faint and that she actually has sleeper magic – Mira doesn’t believe him but when she wants to ask more questions he’s already gone. When touching the card, purple liquid spills out and keeps spilling out, the tarot book is all but soaked; when a goblin hears her scream and enters the room, he is knocked out cold when he touches the liquid. Sound asleep.

There are some things happening; brewing… Azreans aren’t okay with Ambrose, who has been raised in Lander to just take over as king – Mira can’t communicate with Bael inside the wards Ambrose cast over the castle and it’s grounds – Finding out more about Queen Roma and why she did what she did – People that still are cursed and are shapeshifters are losing control – Someone important dies – Nothing is as they’ve told you; as you’ve learned as a kid.

I still enjoyed reading this book and this series so I am giving it ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars.
