I was waiting on this book to be released ever since I finished ‘Skyshade’ because this whole series has been one banger after the other. I fell in love with the characters of lightlark almost instantly; hating those that were bad. The Grim and Oro book that has been released some months ago was such a lovely surprise and I have to say that after reading ‘Skyshade’ I shifted from team Grim to team Oro.
I can’t believe I have to wait a long time for the (what I believe will be) final book of this series. In all honesty I don’t know how I feel after reading this, my heart… It’s been breaking reading the heartache Isla went through.

At the end of Skyshade Isla was portalled to another world with Lark, her ancestor; this world being the one the original founders of Lightlark came from in the first place, one where Cronan still resides. Grim and Oro are in utter panic; She’s gone and their connection is almost gone. What happened? This wasn’t what they had planned, Isla wasn’t going to sacrifice herself, they wouldn’t have let her.
To get Isla back to Lightlark Grim and Oro have to work together, finding every scrap of information that can be found on how to portal to another world and how to defeat Cronan. They have to talk to Cleo because Oro knows she helped Isla in some way; and surely, she did, to get her son back there was nothing on this world she wouldn’t do, even if it meant helping Isla.
They soon learn about the threads of time and how this artefact is still in possession of Horus, Oro’s ancestor. But finding it has been proven difficult since it’s at the bottom of some ocean where otherworldly being seem to be imprisoned. With Cleo’s help to separate the water all the way to the bottom so Grim and Oro can look for Horus, which is costing Cleo a great deal of energy, they search. When they are almost certain he isn’t there; they find him.
Horus doesn’t want to help because, yes, the threads of time are one of the things needed to defeat Cronan but if it got into the wrong hands, it could help Cronan with his plans on destroying worlds and conquering the rest. With some persuasion he finally relents and gives the artifact to Oro.
After a lot of research and help, a portal is opened but Isla is only letting one of them through… It’s a tough call that will have the one left behind with heartbreak, but so be it.
Meanwhile in the other world, Isla is imprisoned by Cronan; he wants her to join him because her power is unparalleled, but she won’t. Isla is a leader that leads with love not with wrath and destruction. Once the man she chose makes his way through the portal and Cronan knows of the love connection he takes away all the memories he has with Isla. Making her a stranger to him once again. The destruction of Lightlark is set to take place within 3 weeks; Will Isla’s love for him persuade him enough to help her? Or will he do Cronan’s bidding in hopes that his people will live?
OH.MY.GOD. This book, I couldn’t put it down, I didn’t want to leave my house to do things (which I had to and did but still.) I just wanted to know how this book would end. I really don’t know how I feel right now and I really do not want to wait until the next one, I need to know now.
This book obviously gets the full ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (times a million)
