I’m halfway through the series now having finished ‘The forgotten cottage’ which is the 3rd in this series of 6 books total.

This book has someone we all know and hate come back.

In the last one, Will asked Annie to marry him and she said yes! Having met Will’s father and stepmother who are the most generous people on the planet and are just the nicest and even very very well off. Lily, the stepmother is the one to take on the wedding planning and will ensure ‘the’ day will be the most special and beautiful day in Will and Annie’s lives.

When Will’s dad had a stroke, he broached the subject of moving closer to his parents. His father’s friend has a cottage going up for sale and Will and Annie could take first dibs if they really wanted it. The village is very small and the cottage isn’t as bad as they thought with it being abandoned for about twenty years. The moment Annie stepped foot in the house she knew there was a ghost attached to it, she just didn’t know if it was a good one or a bad one but she would soon find out.

There was a letter sent to Will’s father about a woman claiming she was his long-lost daughter and she had been watching the family for quite some time. Tom couldn’t believe what he read; he had an affair a very long time ago which lasted all but a week because he felt immense guild towards his wife. His daughter wanted to het what she’s owed since Tom is loaded, she would kidnap his son Will for ransom that would be the quickest way.

In 1782 Betsy Baker just learned that you could kill people with the use of Arsenic which is rat poisoning and that it could be bought at the local chemist. She lived with her ailing mother who she loathed and wanted her gone since her mother never approved of anything Betsy did. She had the best idea to mix some with her mother’s supper and then go to work at the bar surely her mother would be dead when she returned home from work.

Having been infatuated by the towns widow Joss, who lived in a beautiful little farm like cottage; Betsy had her eyes on him. Trying her best to get him to court her and let her move in with him. The only problem? He has twin boys who were 8 years of age and she hated kids, she wanted Joss all for herself and what she did in the end would get her hunted through town.

Builders didn’t want to stay in the cottage for long and definitely not on their own since they keep hearing heavy breathing and nails scratching on glass. One time one of the workers even felt bony fingers around his throat and the feeling of being chocked. This ghost was becoming a problem and when Annie let it know that the house was hers now and the ghost had to get lost – got her in a very bad car accident, leaving her in a coma for multiple days.

Will Annie wake up from the coma? Who is this ghost and what does it want? Is Will really going to be kidnapped? Will everyone be okay before the wedding? And who is this mystery man we hate that has come back in this book?

Again, 5 stars!
