Two down, four to go. The second book in the ‘Annie Graham’ series has been read and it was another good one.

The second book in this series is called ‘Secrets of the Shadow’ and takes you on a wild ride when it comes to religion and heartache.

Will and Annie have become an item with Annie having slept at his place for months. There is just one coworker of Will that can’t seem to handle with him having settled down. Surely not bachelor Will also known as the playboy of the station. Laura has been head over heels for her boss and now he’s fallen in love with someone else? Nah, she can’t have that. She’ll let him see what he’ll be missing if he’s serious about settling down with Annie.

Annie is having a night over at her friend Jake’s house, drinking themselves into oblivion whilst Jake is trying to persuade Annie into going ghost hunting with him on the church cemetery. They didn’t know that the police or better yet, Will’s team are having a stake out right at the front gates and on the cemetery. Obviously, they got caught and because they were both hammered; they giggled their way out of it. Emotions were running high and with just a moment passing are Will and Annie mad at each other. Jake and Annie wander on home to Jake’s and Will calls of the stakeout and takes his team to the pub to get hammered.

When Annie sobered up the next day and localized her phone, she plans to head over to Will’s to take a shower and change before work; but what she sees has her heart crumbling into tiny little pieces. Will is laying on the couch in nothing but his boxershorts with Laura in her undies next to him. Stumbling into the hallway, Will wakes and doesn’t for the live of him remember what happened, but when he sees Annie bolting to the front door and looks behind him and seeing Laura on his couch, he knows he’s screwed.

In 1984 a single mother and her two children ask the local church for help. The priest helps them with a home which is one that’s owned by the church but when something sinister happens that same family are living in the church’ presbytery with the priest and housekeeper. 9-year-old Sophie has had an encounter with something she calls ‘the shadow man’ and Priest John knows exactly what she means. When this shadow man is nearby the air around will start smelling rather foul. Little Sophie is deteriorating quite fast and the priest wasn’t able to help her. Once Sophie passed the mother couldn’t live with what she witnessed and took her own live.

Now, there are woman being killed and are staged on the cemetery grounds on old graves. Will’s team can’t wrap their head around this because the perp doesn’t leave a single trace. It’s not until Annie encounters something and relying what she’s learned that there is a break in this case.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars again! The paranormal aspect makes it even more thrilling and the characters are again so well written, you come to love them. (or hate them)
