It was time to dive back in the lands of the new republic which means it was time to read the newest book by Tahereh Mafi called Release Me and it has already been announced that the third book in this series will be released in September!
This book was released on the 7th of April but I couldn’t get to it until now but it was worth the wait, well…
The dynamic between James and Rosabelle looks a bit too much like Warner and Juliette’s and even gets a bit cringy (I’m sorry!) but the ending kind off made up for it.

Rosabelle has been in prison for a while now and what astonishes Warner is that she can switch off, not just her feelings but everything. Her father is the one asking questions but every session she just sits and only moves to adjust her seating. She doesn’t say a word, her face remains blank she only blinks occasionally. Soon the 9th day mark is met with absolutely no success.
James has been demoted big time, he has no clearances what so ever and needs to chaperone to go places. For someone who has a very high clearance to this, it angers James. Getting the shitty chores that make him feel even more rage and still, a babysitter, really?! At least it’s Kenji James thinks, until Kenji unloads his anger on him for going rogue and bringing a girl assassin from the reestablishment to their new place. James is desperate to see Rosabelle – desperate almost being an understatement.
She escaped a high secured prison like its child’s game – James knows where to look because he knows what she will be doing. Rosabelle wants to go home so, she’ll be looking at getting a ship which could only mean he will be finding her at the nearest air strip. (I won’t be spoiling what happens here)
Warner puts her in a coma, just to be sure she won’t harm anyone else but that coma doesn’t last long because after a while she starts waking up and this is something Warner has never seen and doesn’t understand, never has someone he willed into a coma come out of it by themselves. She only seems to relax somewhat with James in her proximity or hearing his voice. Knowing she can escape every prison ever build, Warner needs to think of something different.
Rosabelle is going to be roommates with Nazeera; Nazeera being the one to volunteer to be her guard at all times. When James arrives, there is finally something useful coming out of Rosabelle’s mouth; The plans the reestablishment has and how they will be implementing this so they can achieve world dominance. On that same day a couple of hours later, all hell breaks loose which makes for a proper ending to this story.
There was way too much clingy stuff going on in my opinion, it really bordered on being cringy and me wanting to skip pages. It’s not something I’m used to with books by Tahereh. The ending did spike my interest in reading the next one and I do hope it won’t be as cringy as this one but more action packed – killing machine like.
I’m giving this book ⭐⭐⭐,5 stars
