After reading Release Me by Tahereh Mafi, I didn’t know for sure if I’d want to read the rest of the series because it was quite cringe; but then I remembered that the previous series were extraordinary. When the latest book was released, I bought the ebook instead of the hardcover and dived right in to it.

Escape Me by Tahereh Mafi is the third book in ‘The new republic’ series. I don’t know how many books this serie would contain after conclusion.

James needs to reel his feelings in though because what he feels isn’t love, it’s nothing short of obsession and it is the cringest part of the book to read.

Rosabelle and Warner have a new deal; James can’t come near her, he isn’t to know what she’s doing or where she’s going in exchange for Rosabelle giving Warner intel on what is about to happen, what to expect and hopefully save his world once more. In order for this to all work out, Rosabelle needs to find a way to earn Sebastian’s trust again so he’ll take her back to the Ark and marry her, which would be the biggest ruse because when everyone is preoccupied, she wants to kill the man behind the ark. Klaus.

The only way to earn back Sebastian’s trust is going through his rage, his obsession to be better than her and to hurt her enough that people wouldn’t want her by their side. Every time James is near, Rosa feels again; making her a little less dead inside. She can’t let that happen, in order to make this mission a success is if she can shut off completely. After only the first interrogation she’s so badly hurt, piquing the attention of the psych ward patients she previously attended. They are asking all these weird questions, who are they really?

When it becomes clear that they once were scientist from the reestablishment, they keep asking questions about Liam, someone they thought she killed until they sat alone with what they saw, coming to a conclusion that surely couldn’t have happened, a person can’t just explode from within and yet, that’s what he did.

After a mayor cyber-attack, comms is still unreliable and people are working around the clock to pick up people that are supposedly working as spies for the ark. Everyone is bone tired but live goes on, threats are still on the horizon. They aren’t save yet.

James is still out of a job, not being reinstated yet because of his obsessive thoughts about Rosabelle, but he’s going out of his mind. Rage is building up inside him and he’s not sure why; other then the fact that they are keeping her from him. The people that have to look out for her haven’t even made sure she was fed and watered and had clean clothes to put on.

Rosabelle knows a attack from the ark is imminent and with that thousands if not more will be tethered to the ark through artificial intelligence. Making their minds accessible for Klaus to tap in to, using them as tools, weapons or just the ultimate spying eye.

I’m giving this book ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars, it was good; Rosabelle’s ending was exciting but again, James was cringe.
