I’m always patiently waiting for Tahereh Mafi’s new books. The shatter me series was astonishing and now the story continues with “watch me” a shatter me: the new republic #1 book.

This beautiful story is written in dual point of view and has a bit of the enemies to lover’s trope in there. Triggers that it contains are; malnourishment, death, killings, unjust rulings and brain tempering.

This book like all the others from the shatter me series is so good. The storytelling is out of this world. She did the best story building in the shatter me series and it only continues to be epic. This is a dual point of view story.  

We follow Rosabelle aka Rosa, who, because of the treason of her father and the suicide of her mother has become the lowest of the low. She does live on the reestablishments exclusive island called the ark but doesn’t have a live of luxury. Monthly interrogations, dwindling food rations that she has to share with her sickly sister… Malnourished and treated like a criminal, she has to do all the dirty work. Kill the people that get imprisoned. We follow James, younger half-brother of Aaron Warner Anderson Aka Warner from the new republic.  

James snuck out and breached the ark but got caught in the process. Rosa has been sent to his cell to kill him; little did she know he is a healer and healed himself in time before his organs were harvested. With a lot happening on the ark, and Rosa with new orders, she convinces James to take her with him. To his domain, little does he know her agenda, he suspects she wants to come to spy, but the enormity of her assignment is lost on him.  

Arriving in the New Republic domain once Rosa regains consciousness, she can’t believe how old the equipment in her hospital room is. The Ark is very high end and luxurious whilst the New Republic has over a decade old equipment. Rosa expects to be interview but no officials seem to come, isn’t she detained? James does come to visit most days until it is time to go to a new ward. They want to reset my brain, delete the propaganda that has been drilled into me. But the only thing I can think about is my assignment and how to get my sister to safety. 

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars. Can’t wait for the next one!
