The Waitress is the first book I’ve read by K. L. Slater and I was pleasantly surprised by how the story progressed. This book is already available as Audiobook.

Alicia is in a tight spot. Being blackmailed into working for a dangerous person and her new job has her placed in London, away from her sister and her son. Her Job is to get close to her mark and uncover dirt on him that can be used to destroy said person’s reputation.

To get to her mark she needs to work at this high-end agency that waiters at premium events. Once she made contact with her mark; Trent Connors she had to play her part just right. That same evening Trent gives her a job offer; play the part of being his girlfriend to uncover gossip he isn’t prone to for a hefty salary and living in the penthouse. Having all the luxury in the world, even high-end clothes she can’t normally even afford to look at How can she say no to that, but how will she let this play out?

Having her sister Jen look after her son Brodie, knowing they should be save since Jen moved away from her abusive ex. Brodie has been poorly for a while and it keeps getting worse, Jen also made the stupid mistake (one that Alicia doesn’t know about) to reconcile with her ex and has given Alicia the deadline of a month. She’ll only look after Brodie for a month and then she needs to figure it out on her own.

But then something happens and her family is being threatened because she doesn’t deliver on her job fast enough with the bad guy, but then Trent isn’t at all what she thought he would be either. It feels like being a prisoner in a luxurious prison, but once she uncovers things on both she can set the world right again.
