With my fysical TBR growing I’ve kind of stopped picking books from my digital library, shame on me. Which means I’ve been getting behind on some of my favorites.

I’ve decided to read the Scarlett and Logan serie by Dan Padavona where I’ve left off which is book 11, Her Darkest Hour.

Dan is a very good writer and his books aren’t for the faint of heart because they’re dark. Real dark.

The Laughing man is still on the loose and Deputy Director Carter is absolutely losing it. He wants this mean dead, now. He wants this man dead for what he has taken from him, all that he loved, taken, dead. He can’t stand the fact that Agents Gardy and Bell haven’t been able to catch them yet and goes off on their incompetence. But they aren’t incompetent, this killer is a maniac and always is a step ahead.

After the Laughing man murdered another family, Agents Gardy and Bell have been called out to work with the police. What they find is nothing less of horrifying, a crime scene so brutal, how can someone be able to do such a thing?

When looking around for evidence they spot Scarlett’s name carved in a tree. So, he’s leveled up, first he was killing friends from agents linked to his case, now it was close family from agents and with this new hint, he’s stepped up to picking a target that is the one tasked to find him.

While Logan needs to work in the shadows; he’s looking into Carter’s past. Something doesn’t seem to add up, he has a lot of puzzle pieces but can’t make the pieces fit yet. The laughing man on the other hand, it’s tiresome for a killer to tail a killer without being able to take him down.

It has taken days and a lot of scary things happening for a showdown to take place, and it’s not the showdown you expect.

Will the laughing man be dead at the end of this book? Or is it something or someone else in this showdown?

These books by Dan are so fast paced, there is always something happening within a chapter but there is always an ending that will blow your mind.
