The Whistling – Rebecca Netley

Elspeth is beginning a new adventure on a remote Island as a live-in nanny. Little did she know that the child she’s minding has been mute since she lost her brother William which makes a connection a lot harder. Talk around the Island is that Elspeth’s predecessor Hettie and William were dabbing in witchcraft which led to their death but the family is keeping it close to the vest. A lot of weird things happen at the house, paranormal things.

Crowntide – Alex Aster

I can’t believe the end of this book and the fact that we have to wait for an unknown time for the new one. This book has my heart in tatters, I didn’t want to put it down, I didn’t want to leave my house (but I had to). Isla is such a fierce one once she found her fire, the things she had to endure in this book is nothing short of astonishing. Isla has to pick between Oro and Grim, which one will it be? What will be left standing of Lightlark at the end of this book? Click on ‘Read More’ to read my full review on this book.

The Wilds – Sarah Pearse

The third book in the Elin Warner series and in this one Elin and her brother Isaac want to reconnect and are doing so on a holiday to Portugal together. With Penn suggesting the Airstream Park where you’ll be surrounded by forest and hills. What Elin thought to be a reconnecting / unwinding vacation is turning into finding Penn’s missing sister Kier but it seems absolutely impossible. Nobody seems willing to help, which seems worrisome. With nothing to go on, will they find her?

The Good Samaritan – John Marrs

The end of the line is a help-line for people that are in need of someone who listens to them but don’t judge; all the operators are volunteers and have had courses to teach them to stay neutral. Laura is different though; Why talk people into living their miserable lives when they could end it on their own terms? With a bit of persuasion from her off course; not everyone meets the criteria of being a mark though. After learning more about Laura you just get to know how dangerous she really is.

How to sell a haunted house – Grady Hendrix

You know that nightmare every kid has? The one where they dream a normal dream and then out of nowhere, their doll of stuffy comes to live and does some horrible things?! Yeah, this book is that nightmare and then some. After her parents die and Louise flies back to her hometown to sort everything out, she and her brother Mark are in for some horrible, haunting surprises. The first half of the story is more about building the story so that the last half can be one for your nightmares.
