A huge Thank You to Netgalley simply for existing because this platform introduces you to so many good books, books I wouldn’t have heard of being a Dutchy and all. Let’s talk about the next book I was able to read through Netgalley.

Beware the Abbott boys is a Young Adult book written by Chelsea Ichaso. She also labelled it as a Gothic Novel but I didn’t really see it that way, the only thing that is somewhat gothic is the ‘Castle’ the boys live in. This book will be released on the 30th of June this year. I have to say that the YA books from now are fast paced reads and I kinda like it.

This book has multiple POVs. You have the boys separate POVs of a year prior and the now POV from best friend Hayden. Let’s dive into this, shall we?

Bram Abbott lost his girlfriend a year ago and while his brother Adam was first crowned as a hero for trying to save Mariana from a burning car; all three boys have been made suspect by the people of their town within two weeks after it happened. It doesn’t matter that Adam had severe burns and can’t play football ever again, they needed a scapegoat, someone to blame and who better than the boys that worked on Mariana’s car on the day of the accident?

In the chapters written for us readers to know about the past and what happened there, we will be able to see the puzzle pieces fit in the end of the book.

After a year of not being able to go to school the boys can finally attend again, much to Hayden’s pleasure. She finally has her best friend back at school and his brothers; she has known them since they were small children and have been hanging out ever since, so the accusations made towards the Abbott’s are uncalled for. She knows that people will see her in a bad way now she publicly will hang out with them again. Most of the other students don’t want the Abbott’s to return, they think the whole family is cursed and that they’re all murderous people.

When a popular school girl is murdered on school property none the less, the finger gets pointed to the Abbott’s yet again. The video footage shows a person following Kennedy into the woods, you can’t see that person’s face but you can see his vest and there are only three people with that vest in school. The Abbotts. But after a situation in the cafeteria, one of the brothers left his to get his other brother out. Which means anyone could’ve taken it and used it, pinning the crime on a family that has endured the wrath of their town.

Because the Abbott’s are on student council this year, the retreat everyone wanted to attend is cancelled, instead of multiple days at some resort they are stuck in the auditorium for the day. When a girls mentions to one of the brothers that they should definitely host a party at their castle after the so called retreat, he agrees; only because he wants people to see that they are normal boys and not the monsters people paint them out to be.

When Hayden almost gets killed does the truth finally come to light, but will it be enough to get the Abbott’s of the hook? Hayden has been the girl in the thick of it, eventually doubting if the boys are as innocent as they kept telling.

I’m giving this book a ⭐⭐⭐⭐ star rating.
