The Wilds by Sarah Pearse

The 7th book in my 10 before the end challenge is read, that means only 2 left. But before continuing the challenge I’m going to read Crowntide by Alex Aster because I neeeeed to know what happens!

The 7th book in this challenge was a book I had high hopes for because the first two books in this series were very gripping but sadly this one was not. It took me a lot longer to get through this book, but that’s okay. It was okay enough to choose to read on instead of DNF’ing. I’m talking about ‘The Wilds’ by Sarah Pearse which is the third book in the Elin Warner series.

In the last book Elin is reunited with her brother Isaac whom she hasn’t talked to in a very long time because she always thought that he was responsible for the death of their younger brother Sam but truth is, Elin was responsible; to shellshocked to do something and after that shock she buried the memory very deep.

In this book Elin and Isaac want to reconnect and they are planning on doing so on a vacation to the biggest park in Portugal, staying in an Airstream Park. With Steed (Elin’s work colleague) recommending this please and Isaac having heard a lot about the place from his mate Penn they have high hopes. This Park really is a big one with multiple places to stay, camp etc. But also a place where you can get lost or injured very easily.

Isaac hasn’t been completely honest with Elin because his friend Penn also asked if once their they can look for his missing sister, Kier. She has been missing for months and her last known was the Park they’re staying at. Near the Airstreams is a clearing with Vans, that’s where Kier has been staying but the people staying there now are very tightlipped and not the most friendly. Kier’s Van is nowhere in sight so they’re at a loss. They do investigate further and that’s when someone they thought they knew turned out to be a completely different person altogether.

Kier’s hobby was map-making, all the places she went she made maps with her favorite sightseeing places that held something special to her. When Isaac and Elin go to the small town and to an art gallery, the owner has one of those maps Kier made. She left it there and was supposed to come back, but she didn’t. All the places on this map are places Isaac and Elin will investigate but all just stays a mystery.

I know it’s not the best review I’ve written but, I can’t seem to word to much without spoiling on this one.

I’m still giving it ⭐⭐⭐ stars because it was okay to read. Don’t know if I’ll be continuing this series if more books come out though.
