With Nightshade by Autumn Woods the success it’s been it didn’t take long for me to pre-order the next novel in that series called Daybreak and that one has been released at the end of July. You best believe I couldn’t wait to long to read this one.

Nightshade was a solid 5 star read for me. A somewhat cozy uni read with love drama and stalker drama but it was still giving humor. A classic enemy to lovers, I mean, it was obvious from the start that Ophelia and Alex were going to be an item. Alex’ father Cain is the head of Green aviation and is responsible for a lot of killings. Being in league with the NY mob and other high flyers to do their dirty work, for a price and leave no trace behind. Cain is also responsible for the murder of Ophelia her parents and she has been gathering evidence of this in the previous book. Writing an article that she would publish when she has enough to show for but then, she fell in love with Alex and got to know his mother and 6 sisters. Coming to the conclusion that they are victims to. But at the end of nightshade, the article gets published, tarnishing Alex’ family and Cain disappearing. Even though she didn’t leak the article, she is the one held responsible and is hated for it.

Alex has gone without saying goodbye, going back to New York to pick up the pieces of the damage the article did. Her mother has been mentally ill but her body is also giving up on her, making her unable to look after her six daughters, the youngest being seven. Within a night, Alex has become caregiver, guardian of his sisters and CEO of a billion-dollar company at only 23 years of age. With his lawyers telling him to not contact Ophelia, he goes radio silent but it does cost him. He feels utterly miserable. With the best and most expensive private investigators working with the FBI and Alex to find his father and bring him to justice.

Ophelia is trying to survive; Alex has gone without waking her up and talking like adults about the article she wrote but did not publish. The entirety of the school is against Ophelia and to make matters worse, she has a new stalker. Someone that has a picture of what she and Alex did last year which is damning evidence. Trying to go one, doing fun things with friends but still having days where she just doesn’t want to get out of bed, and who can blame her? Her parents were murdered, her boyfriend broke her heart and there is a new stalker that wants her head on a silver platter.

About halfway through the story there will be a shift, Alex is doing everything he can to make it right with Ophelia because he realized that live isn’t worth living if they’re apart. Even if he has his family, his heart still misses Ophelia. The sunny days are all gloomy and sad without her until they aren’t anymore. But they still have to overcome a lot. Long distance, a father on the run, finding her new stalker, getting on with school, overcoming fears and with all the dark stuff, light can still be found within the pages of this book.
