We’ve come to the end! The last book in the Flame Cursed Fae trilogy has just been read and I think I might miss this series because it was written in a fun yet informative way. I do get the feeling that it’s similar to something I’ve read ages ago but I can’t seem to remember what that book would’ve been called. Anyone?

Maddy has always been the outcast even though she was born a princess, her parents kept her hidden; like a dirty little secret. Why? The Ice King & Queen weren’t that powerful so their business dealings were made out of blackmail or trading secrets and that’s where Maddy steps in with her Memory magic; she has stored every memory she or her parents’ thought was worth saving inside a whole mind gallery but when Maddy got chosen to become a Valkyrie and moving away from home, the family had to deal with royal life the normal way and they weren’t faring well.

It became clear to Maddy that she has been used as a tool her entire live, she decided it was time to choose. She wouldn’t be anyone’s tool; no more! With her becoming the first to have this new kind of Val-tivar or spirit animal and the magic that goes with it, she learns how to keep Thyrvie at her side and with that moving into the Bear Wing which means, no more sleepovers at Sarra’s workstation; kind of a bummer but loving the fact that she can snuggle up to her bear at night.

Sarra has gone missing, she hasn’t been seen by her people in about a day and Maddy is losing it, Thyrvie can follow a trail through scent though and she soon discovers that Sarra has left the vicinity in which it is save to wander, knowing Kain can’t follow and the other Valkyrie are bound to the grounds and are also unable to help, Thyrvie and Maddy decide they would go and find Sarra even if it means crossing some kind of border into dangerous territory. Thyrvie soon finds out that, yes, Sarra did leave but she also came back on Featherblade ground and when she is finally found Maddy is in shock. Her fingers are all black, her skin grayish and her eyes that same green as when she handled that staff. The last thing Sarra said before losing consciousness was that she had gone out to find a feather, but got back with the wrong one.

Erik told Maddy that he thinks it’s shriek magic and that he needs a Shriek feather, it’s the only way to save Sarra. The only way allowed off Featherblade grounds is during the Oskerella which she volunteers for the next day. Everything that happens after that day is mind blowing. She’ll be betrayed by someone she didn’t expect; captured and escorted to the Ice Giants realm. Will she be rescued? Who betrayed her? Will she ever see her sister again? And what about Kain, the chemistry and yearning is almost overwhelming. Will there be a moment when they can finally touch? And what is Kain’s plan on revenge?

A lot of questions which all will be answered in this book!

This was a ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 star read for me.
