Another book finished; After reading ‘Of blades and wings’ by Eliza Raine it became clear that this book had more books in the series. If I’m correct the series is complete with three books. I just finished the second one in this series and it’s called ‘Of frost and feather’.

I thought this second book was better than the first, why? There was more depth, I guess. Things playing out between Maddy and Kain was fun.

The ending of book one was kind of abrupt like the second one, it would have been better and maybe somewhat neater if the ending was more thought through. It wasn’t even a mayor cliffhanger.

In this book Maddy is in for a few new challenges and learns more about her condition. Training on her stamina and strength is going well but it still doesn’t mean she is one of the better ones. Orgid and Inga and their clan still have it out for Maddy; wanting to get rid of the weakest link and they will go to great length to keep trying to succeed with that.

Sarra is still trying to uncover what kind of magic is hidden within the earth magic wand. One evening Maddy walks in to Sarra’s workshop only to be shocked at what she’s seeing. Sarra’s hands turning black and her eyes are alight and green. Maddy doesn’t think tinkering with that wand on her own is a good idea a pleads with her friend to just wait for her to keep an eye out.

Maddy’s family will attend a challenge of some sorts to see how far in the training the rooks are. When she encounters her parents but most importantly her sister Freydis the atmosphere turns cold; Her sister really seems to have a newfound hatred for her which is something Maddy can’t use right now. She missed her sister so much but apparently, she didn’t. The challenge is looking good, Maddy has enough time to look at other rooks and adjusts her game strategy. There is only one thing that can happen to make her fail; fainting.

Orgid and Inga play dirty at a swimming contest. It was supposed to be the easiest way to get Maddy out of the rooks by drowning. While one takes her down when it was Maddy’s turn to swim, the other will do anything to the rooks that are trying to help Maddy. When things were starting to look dire and Maddy truly thinks she’s about to drown her Val-tivar arrives to take her a shore. A Valtivar that every single person is able to see.

Maddy soon learns that when her emotions are heightened does her Val-tivar named Thyrvi appear and she is something else. Normally you can’t see someone else’s Val-tivar but Thyrvi can be seen by anyone that is looking; but then again, Maddy can see the Valkyrie’s Val-tivars even though it shouldn’t be possible.

I really liked this book; it was better then the first one.

I’m giving it ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars.
