I told myself that if I had enough time to spare this month, I would pick up the second Zodiac Academy book which is called Ruthless Fae and with just a couple days left in June I had the time to read it.

After reading the second one I’m beginning to understand the hype about this series BUT I haven’t read one yet that I would give 5 stars. We still have enough books left in this series so who knows, right?

If you haven’t read the first book then please, don’t read this review because it’ll have some spoilers on book one. Let’s begin, shall we?

Recap on book one; Tory and Darcy learn about their heritage and the fact that they are fae and not mere mortals. They are invited to attend Zodiac Academy to learn about their own world, order forms, magic and how to wield it. The rules within this Academy are almost none existent and they soon learn how unwanted they are. The one that tried to help them shed light on some facts ends up dead and the four heirs carry such vengeance in their hearts that they want Tory and Darcy gone, with every means necessary; If it takes playing out their worst fears to get them to go away, so be it.

Emotionally drained, that’s what Tory and Darcy are in the beginning of this new book and talking about calling it quits but; how could they even transport themselves back to the mortal world and how would they even pay for things without any money to their names? They come up with a solution though, Tory needs to steal the gold Darius uses to replenish his magic and Darcy needs to steal fairy dust from Professor Orion. Tory gets the gold easily but in her anger towards Darius she sets his whole room on fire. Darcy’s mission doesn’t really succeed though.

After that failed mission, they decide to stay, why would they run and prove to them that they are scared quite easily. No, they will stay and make them pay at the same time and the best part? They aren’t going to know it was them that played tricks on the heirs. They do have one problem though. The FIB is on campus and wants to search rooms because of a nymph attack which means they have to bury Darius’ gold somewhere.

Ever since the King and Queen of Solaria were murdered the royal council have had the job of ruling over this world with their children being assigned as heir. After that failed attempt of scaring the princesses away, Darius’ father invites both Tory and Darcy to a party under the guise of a formal meet and even though the Royal council seem pleased with their presence; as the party goes on small fractions of the truth surface.

With Tory and Darcy’s vengeance playing out and a Pitball game that their academy should’ve won but couldn’t due to Tory and Darcy’s party tricks; the heirs are furious. Not soon after the end of that game, all hell breaks loose and the academy isn’t as save anymore.

I’m giving this book ⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars! The beginning and ending were fast paced and amazing but the in between was slow, fun but slow.
