I had the opportunity to ARC read a new book by Emma Noyes called Prince of the Sun which is a New Adult / Romantasy novel and will be released on the 4th of August.

Books by Emma Noyes are so easy to read and aside from the dark aspects or heavy subjects they are fun to read. Banter between characters is nice and not cringy and she does write a good and easy-going enemies to lovers.

In this book we follow Quinn, a girl that has had it tough. About a hundred years ago elves came to earth, in peace but still it kind of felt like an invasion. They promised to leave as soon as they found what they were looking for, God only knows what that is. When Quinn was twelve and going food shopping with her younger brother Michael and their father, something horrible happened. When Quinn came out of the store, there were two elves talking to their father; it didn’t look like a friendly conversation. Just as Quinn started walking towards them, did an elf draw its spear and speared Quinn’s father with it. Michael was standing behind him and was speared as well, while their dead was speared in the heart it only got through Michael’s shoulder. When the shock was over and people started screaming, the elves took both the father and Michael and disappeared.

Quinn became numb and stopped eating eventually becoming anorexic and non-feeling. She did have one goal though, vengeance. Where before she absolutely loved elves and studies their language, she now hated them and was dead-set on learning all there is to learn about them and then destroy them. When she was old enough, she enrolled in Harvard because one of the elf princes was there as well. Studying linguistics and keeping to herself mostly she soldiered on.

In her second year she finally had the courage to step up to Daerios, the sun prince because he was hogging a book she needed. From that moment on, Daerios kept appearing at lunch and slowly a friendship grew. Quinn being strict with herself to keep it superficial because of what his race did; she hated Elves, remember?! Still spying on them and looking for that missing piece of the puzzle while in between growing fonder of the prince.

When the puzzle piece that was missing finally clicked, she couldn’t believe what she found but also couldn’t believe the betrayal she endured. Were Daerios’ feelings towards her even real?! After seeing the complete puzzle, she doesn’t think so because if it was, how could he betray her like that? After she gave him everything.

This was a solid ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ star read!
