I finally had the time to pick up Zodiac Academy; the series being as hyped up as they are but the amount of them was something that made me a bit scared. What if I really liked the first book and I just wanted to continue reading until the end of the series? Well, that will take a while let me tell you that! After finishing the first book and realizing that the story actually is good, I did promise myself that I wouldn’t be reading them back-to-back, why? My TBR is sooooo big and I have so many good books that I do want to switch it up, maybe I’ll do one or two a month until there are none left.

The first book in the Zodiac Academy series is called The Awakening, let me tell you about it.
Tory and Darcy were foster care children and that last home, phew! But when you turn 18 years of age there is no place left for you within foster care and the family, you’re staying with can kick you out because they aren’t getting paid to care for you anymore. They did find a cheap place to stay but money has been worrying them lately. Being kicked out of the house doesn’t get you time to pack and so, quite a sum of money has been left in a hole in the wall at their last home. Darcy can’t let it go and that’s why she’s sneaking into the house that once was somewhat of a home. Getting the cash was no issue since the house was empty tonight but when she hears sirens coming closer, she knows she’s f’ed. Getting chased after, losing the money in the process but she did slip away.
There is this guy that kept lingering and when he shows up to their place, they kind of freak out. This man, named Orion actually has the money that Darcy lost and gives it back but also tells them they are long lost princesses of Solaria and they have a place at this college called Zodiac Academy and they actually are Fae and have magic. Skeptical, non-believing, that’s what they were… But once they arrive at the academy in a whole new world, realm or whatever you want to name it they can’t believe their eyes.
There are four elemental magic types; Air, Water, Fire and Earth. Most Fae have one elemental magic type, two is kind of special but above is unheard of. The twins don’t know the first thing about magic or how to call to it or even how to harness it, they also don’t know how this world works but they soon find out that the rules and almost everything else is absolute madness. There are four heirs, heirs to the throne their parents secured once Darcy and Tory’s parents and their dummies were killed. Those heirs are absolute pricks and want there ‘lost princesses’ to pack their bags and go back to where they came from and even though Darcy and Tory are scared, they stay. Not interested in getting a throne, just wanting to learn how to live with this new found power and well, get their inheritance off course.
Live at school is dangerous when the four heirs that are also the most popular and the most ruthless painted an X on your backs and the things they do to try and scare the twins off are actually next level crazy but that isn’t their own problem, people are turning up dead due to Nymph attacks and very slowly some things get clearer.
I’m giving this book ⭐⭐⭐⭐.5 stars, loved reading it.
