You best believe that every single time this author releases a new book or there is an opportunity to ARC read her work, I’ll be picking it up in no time. Helen Phifer is one of those writers that writes in a fast pace and releases a lot of books per year and every single one hit that epic mark you’d expect if you’ve read one of her books.
This is the 18th (!!) book in the Morgan Brookes series and I expected it to be everything and more and surprise surprise; she did it again. This book will be released in May.

Morgan, oh Morgan. Will she stay out of trouble this time round? Surely after 17 adventures she must’ve learned something?
After the last book that was filled with heartbreak for many it is time to go back to Rydal Falls for yet another adventure.
It’s late at night and Tori, Scarlett and Dawson are in the car on their way to an abandoned summer camp that is said to be haunted which piqued their interest. The fog is so thick you can’t see in inch before you which is dangerous since they’re driving up a fell, you can drive off it in this weather very easily. Tori has been in a mood since Scarlett keeps flirting with Dawson, she knows Tori has a thing for him. When Dawson hits the break hard and unexpected, Scarlett nose connects full force with the back of Dawson’s head, the crunch was insane. Did you see that? Dawson asks but nobody did. He thought he saw a girl or woman running in front of his car.
Amos inherited the old summer camp, long out of commission and it’s one strong windstorm away from crumbling to the ground. He’s minding his own business when he hears the most gut-wrenching scream, he ever heard. A scream so loud, it has to be from someone in distress. He decides to call the police to his location and takes his dog Shep to investigate his land. He hears someone sobbing in one of the small buildings, when he takes a peek inside, he sees a girl, scared out of her mind and lets his dog go to her for comfort.
When Ben and Morgan arrive Morgan soon sees someone floating in the pond and she doesn’t think twice before going in to get the body out. The shock of the temperature of the water which is so cold and the distance she has to swim to get to the body and back was farther than she thought, struggling to get all the way back when she thinks it’s over and she’s about to drown she feels two strong hands on her, taking both bodies and guiding them to shore safely.
We have one found, one dead and one missing, within a day they have one found, two dead and two missing but with Marc interfering every step of the way to impress someone the investigation goes slow. Ben has a hard time with this case since it’s about kids and Morgan always putting other people ahead of her own safety, he worries.
Ettie has a new guy, someone to wine and dine with. It’s nice to talk to other people instead of her bird Max. Ettie told Morgan the summer camp grounds are cursed and tells her about all the deaths that have taken place since it opened and about some urban myth called the watcher.
Are the girls that have been taken still alive? If so, where the hell are they? All the outbuildings and surrounding areas have been searched and nothing has been found, not a single lead. Will they be found?
Again, a solid ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ stars, these books are so good I don’t want to put them down and if I have to I want to continue as soon as possible.
