Just finished the second books from the ’26 in 26’ challenge for this month and it was none other then ‘Every spiral of fate’ by Tahereh Mafi which is the fourth book in the This woven kingdom book series.

Let me start by saying that Tahereh is a complete genius when building new worlds for her book series, everything is so detailed that she has to have had it all figured out when writing her first book. The books she writes are never too slow, too long or just unimpressive. Her books always end with me thinking ‘When is the next one due to be released?’ and when looking it up thinking ‘That’s way to long, why couldn’t it have been released already’…

As you all know, Alizeh is born to be the queen of the Jinn; in this book Alizeh and Cyrus have preformed a blood oath and are soon to be married. Cyrus being Cyrus Clay, the king of Tulan but also has been burdened with a contract with the devil. This contract has been inherited through the Clay bloodline and will be passed on and on and on until the contract has been fulfilled.

With a marriage that has been postponed a couple of times due to Cyrus not leaving his room, declining to see Alizeh because he tries to build a tolerance you see, when Alizeh is away from Cyrus his body aches tremendously. He’ll experience extreme pains, nausea, fatigue due to not being able to sleep and high fevers which drive the mind insane but he can’t seem to look at his bride to be, for he knows the contract he has with the devil and he shouldn’t get to attached.

When the marriage finally takes place, it becomes rather clear that the Jinn folk have a lot of enemies. There are kingdoms that don’t want the Jinn Queen to rise again. At the after party a glass filled with what we now know has to be a poison was given to Omid to give to the queen, as the snoda who gave it to Omid was too scared to do so. Deen saw the scene play out and intercepted the drink only to moments later be in some kind of state that he has to be carried out of the room.

Deen has been poisoned, which means the queen is in danger and the plans they had needs to be changed and they have to leave immediately for the Arya mountains. Their quest to get Alizeh to where she needs to be so she can get the power she is promised. With her there is a small travel party; five close friends that also have a royal function, these people need to be willing to lay down their lives for that of the queen. Cyrus is also coming but that’s more due to the fact that he is excellent in searching and he has dragons at his disposal. But because he has a connection with the devil, he can’t participate in the actual trail.

Everything is in place and they travel somewhat differently then planned, going to a save house belonging to Prince Kamran’s mother. Oh, what a nutter that one is. The journey was somewhat eventful and the days stashed in way to small rooms were taking long, Alizeh wants to move, she needs to get to her magic before the time runs out. When Cyrus finally tells her he thinks he’s found the entrance to the temple, they don’t wait long.

The trails are dangerous, they test if you’re worthy of that you seek but there is still one small thing to consider. The devil, he’ll make a play and makes someone pay.

The cliffhanger, jeesh. I can’t wait!
Another ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ star read.
